Smarter Balanced Policy Workgroup

A group of educators representing various sectors of education have been convening since December to discuss the use of performance Smarter Balanced as a means for students to take accelerated courses in twelfth grade and to become conditionally exempt from placement into developmental education. 

Smarter Balanced Agreements:

In late February/Early March, both community colleges and four-year public universities agreed to use Smarter Balanced scores from 11th grade to exempt students from developmental education, provided they meet the 12th grade conditions. The policies are provided below:
